Newsom Shrugs at 8-Year-Old Transitions, Blocks Fire Victims from Rebuilding Homes

Los Angeles, July 19, 2025 — On Fox & Friends, co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy highlighted growing national backlash against California Governor Gavin Newsom’s stance on childhood gender transitions. A new clip showed Newsom on the Shawn Ryan Show dodging a direct question on whether 8-year-olds are too young to medically transition. “Come on, man, I get it,” Newsom shrugged, offering no clear position.

Campos-Duffy and her guest, Republican strategist and attorney Katie Zak, exposed Newsom’s record as anything but moderate. “We know how he feels because he signed Senate Bill 107,” Zak explained, “which makes California a sanctuary state for minors seeking gender-affirming care—even without parental consent.”

Under SB 107, California can take custody of a minor from another state if they seek gender-related medical procedures—actions critics say violate the Full Faith and Credit Clause and fly in the face of federal protections. “You can’t even give a kid an aspirin in school without parental approval,” Zak emphasized, “but Newsom wants to let them amputate body parts.”

Zak also reminded viewers that President Trump signed an executive order banning gender transitions for minors under age 19, drawing a stark contrast between the two political leaders.

When asked if Newsom’s podcast charm offensive is working, Zak didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely not. Especially not for Californians who’ve lived under his reign of hypocrisy. He governs against the will of the people.”

The segment then shifted to another controversy: wildfires in California and the state's refusal to let homeowners rebuild. Zak alleged that the state is using red tape to seize scorched private land for government-backed housing. “There are virtually no permits being issued. The land is sitting bare, and people are being stonewalled. It feels like they’re being waited out so the state can swoop in and convert the lots into low-income housing.”

Despite Newsom promising that residents would be allowed to rebuild, a recent California Senate proposal designated burned land for state housing initiatives. After intense pushback, the plan was temporarily walked back—but many believe it reflects Newsom’s long-term agenda.

“Time and time again,” Zak said, “Gavin Newsom says one thing and does the opposite.”
