Occam’s Razor Gardening, Cooking & Canning Ep 59

Welcome. It’s another cold morning at 13 C morning with a projected high of mid 20’s. Not surprising as our Sun enters the end of its Maunder Maximum, after a sequence of ever lower min/max Maunders slowly leading the Earth to the next ice age as the Sun cool with each one. According to geological records so far, this planet has been a frozen ice ball more often than it has been warm enough to support life. At least it still warm enough to grow a garden.

Another batch of Spicy Zucchini Pickles are getting canned today, making use of the garden peppers and fresh dill week; and the Squash box has over ½ dozen spaghetti squashes, and 2 giant summer squashes so far.

The onion bulbs are in for a second crop. The beans are just starting to produce, and the carrots are just 3 inches long and pencil wide, so just a bit to small to thin out yet.

Vine bore beetles are still laying eggs on the squash and zuchini leaves but I’ve managed to catch almost all of them, dispatching these beetles when I can see them.

The pumpkin plants in the front continue to grow, so we await the first pumpkin to appear.

Please join me in the garden.
