I Tried To Warn You - Elon Musk LAST WARNING (2023)

“I’m close to the cutting edge in AI, and it scares the hell out of me.” — Elon Musk

Imagine telling your parents 20 years ago that in 2023, AI would buy groceries, plan trips, and even do homework.

They might have called you crazy.

Yet here we are.

Every business, from the smallest to the biggest, is trying to leverage AI to increase revenue, save time, and reduce operational costs.

People see this as a huge opportunity to increase the quality of their lives.

But everything comes with a cost.

And Elon Musk knows that.

Short-term vs. Long-term Dangers
Elon Musk says we should not worry about the short-term effects of AI.

Things like text or image generation are basic operations.

This is what we’d call ‘Narrow-AI’.

“It’s not a fundamental species-level risk,” as Musk puts it.

But…

Taking it to the next step requires caution.

Is creating superintelligence the right move?

“If we decide that,” says Elon, “we should do so very, very carefully”.

The famous billionaire says that most people have no idea what AI is capable of.

“Most of the movies featuring AI don’t describe it as it will really be like,” he says.

AI developers discard the idea that AI could be smarter than they think.

“This is just wishful thinking,” Elon comments.

The number of scientists and engineers developing AI is increasing dramatically.

They’re doubling every year.

Do you know how many students in computer science study AI?

‘All,’ says Musk.

The rate of improvement in that area is exponential.

AI is becoming smarter and smarter.

This is not just a computer.

A computer has limited capabilities, chosen by its creator.

An AI could think on its own and make its own choices.

It’s a human mind without emotions, but way more capable.

AI is worse than nuclear power
If that wasn’t earth-shaking enough, let’s see how AI compares to nuclear power.

Simply consider the scenario where AI becomes much smarter than humans…

Then what do we do?

What would our job then be?

It’s scary to even think about it.

AI-assisted surgery robots and AI-flying cars are on the horizon.

The growth is mind-boggling.

Elon Musk’s words leave us speechless: ‘I try to convince people to slow down, slow down AI, to regulate AI. This was futile.’

Elon Musk says that nuclear power is not as powerful as AI.

In his own words, ‘Mark my words: AI is far more dangerous than nukes.’

Quite ironically, Musk’s baby, Tesla, is developing Optimus, a conceptual general-purpose robotic humanoid.

My best guess? Elon will use Optimus to counterbalance the negative effects of other AIs in the future.

Let’s prepare

The AI revolution is not like the industrial revolution or the technology revolution.

This is different.

Now we are building a different species.

This could alter the course of humankind in ways we can’t even possibly predict.

So my question to you is this:

‘Are we able to manage AI, or will it be the worst thing that we ever created, worse even than the atomic bomb?’
