The Alberta Roundup | Alberta Next kicks off in Red Deer

The Alberta Next Panel launched its first in-person town halls, with Albertans demanding everything from independence to communism — and Premier Smith fielding tough questions throughout.

Naheed Nenshi officially began his term as MLA for Edmonton-Strathcona, spending much of his first press conference accusing Premier Smith of stoking division and playing political games with national unity.

He also criticized the UCP’s new directive on school library content, calling it “purely performative” — while Smith defended the move as necessary to protect children.

And federally, Pierre Poilievre warns of a coordinated attempt to flood the ballot in his upcoming Alberta byelection.
