Overnight, the IDF reported that its troops, along with Border Police officers, attempted to break up what it described as a “violent gathering” involving dozens of Israeli Druze near the Syrian border.

According to the military, the situation escalated when participants breached the border fence and crossed into Syrian territory near Majdal Shams, clashing with security personnel in the process.

“The IDF takes any form of violence against its troops and security forces very seriously,” the statement read. “Crossing into Syria is a criminal act that poses a danger both to the public and to IDF personnel.”

Efforts are ongoing to safely bring those who crossed the border back into Israel.
