On July 12, deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Angie Sandoval‑Padro at New Smyrna Beach for walking her pug in a dog‑prohibited area—despite being in the U.S. illegally. After issuing a county ordinance citation, they contacted ICE and learned she had no legal status. She was booked into jail and released the next day pending removal proceedings.
