Gordon Chang: Going to Communist China, especially on September 3rd, when China wants President Trump to attend the grand military parade celebrating the end of World War II, would be absolutely terrible. The reason is that China’s narrative is that the Communist Party won World War II, and that parade would likely honor Chinese soldiers who fought against the United States in the Korean War. The more important question is, what do we expect to achieve by talking with China? We’ve been engaging in dialogue with China for over five decades, and for the past three and a half years, it hasn’t worked out well for us.
