Displaced Palestinians in Gaza Endure Dire Conditions

19 people have now starved to death in Gaza in the past 24 hours. That represents a cruel new phase in Israel's genocide in the Palestinian territory. The UN says it's receiving “desperate messages of starvation” while aid is stockpiled just outside and remains blocked.

Doctors say there's been a surge in people coming to hospitals weak and malnourished. But they don't have the resources needed to treat them. Infants are among the most vulnerable, and they are also dying.

World Food Programme (WFP) Palestine representative, Antoine Renard, told Al Jazeera that Palestinians in Gaza are risking everything for the smallest chance at food.

Amid food shortages, insanitary conditions and increasing levels of disease - conditions are continuing to deteriorate for displaced Palestinians in crowded camps.

Ahmed Bayram is the Middle East spokesperson for the Norwegian Refugee Council. He calls this an erasure of life in Gaza and urges swift action to stop the suffering and prevent further catastrophe.
