U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Shot

On the evening of July 19, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was shot in what looks like an attempted robbery.

The officer, who was off duty at the time, was shot in the face and the forearm and is currently in the hospital in stable condition.

The suspects, both Dominican nationals, Christhian Aybar-Berroa, and Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, entered the US illegally in 2023. Nunez was shot in the leg and groin during the altercation and has a warrant in Massachusetts for kidnapping. Both men have been taken into custody.

It’s time for public safety to make a comeback in New York.
