Inside The Massive Geran Drone Factory

Rare and revealing footage has emerged from Russia’s secretive Alabuga plant in Tatarstan, showcasing the mass production of Geran-2 kamikaze drones — loitering munitions modeled after Iran’s Shahed-136.

The video, leaked by unknown sources, shows rows of white drones lined up for assembly, robotic arms wiring warheads, and Russian engineers overseeing final systems checks. Western intelligence believes Russia is producing tens of thousands of these units, vastly expanding its stockpile for the war in Ukraine and beyond.

The Geran-2, which has already seen extensive use in Ukrainian skies, is designed to evade radar, strike with precision, and overwhelm air defenses at low cost. Its growing presence on the battlefield marks a shift in Russia’s military strategy: high-volume, low-cost, high-impact aerial warfare.

The Alabuga complex, reportedly operating under tight security and sanctions-defying logistics, is suspected to be partly supported by imported components, despite Western export controls.

The drone’s expansion is raising alarm among NATO officials and military analysts, who warn that Russia is moving toward a new phase of industrialized, autonomous warfare — powered by silent, deadly machines.
