Week 26 Tutorial: Judgement is Decreed for Jerusalem (Zephaniah; Jeremiah 1–20, 46–49)

Week 26 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us examining the prophetic work of Zephaniah and Jeremiah, both of whom began their ministry during the reign of good-King Josiah, some 300 years after Solomon's death (approx. 630BC).

In this video, Chad Mansbridge draws our attention to the fact that both prophets predict, as have other voices before them, the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians. As it was with the Northern Kingdom of Israel, this pending 'Day of the Lord', serves as penalty for Judah's stiff-necked disobedience to Moses' Law, and will take place—according to Jeremiah—within 'this generation'.

The Book of Jeremiah is the largest in our Bibles and is not set out in chronological order, so please remember to pay attention to the Reading Plan as we work our way through this critical Prophet these next 3 weeks!
