Deputies, DCF and the Courts KNEW Missy was in danger!

They knew Missy was in danger.

DCF and police had reports that her stepdad was a convicted predator. He was already found guilty for trying to meet someone he thought was a child. But instead of putting him behind bars, a judge let him walk free while awaiting sentencing.

Weeks later, 5-year-old Missy was found unresponsive.

This never should have happened.

Florida law says anyone who fails to report child abuse can be charged with a third-degree felony under Florida Statute 39.205. But there’s a loophole: judges are immune. Even if they ignore signs of danger. Even if they fail to act. Even if a child dies.

The law literally says:
“A judge subject to discipline pursuant to s. 12, Art. V of the State Constitution may not be subject to criminal prosecution when the information was received in the course of official duties.”

This has to change.

Meanwhile, research by Dr. Jennifer Harman shows that in family court cases involving parental alienation, abuse is alleged or suspected in over 80% of them. But only 10% ever include admissible evidence.
That means the system is overloaded with unverified accusations, and real victims like Missy fall through the cracks.
