In the heart of Elaria, Princess Aveline grew up within rose-covered castle walls. She was known throughout the land not only for her ethereal beauty—hair the color of moonlight, eyes like lavender skies—but for her sharp wit and fierce independence. Aveline loved reading ancient scrolls, riding her white mare through hidden paths, and sneaking into the Golden Garden—an ancient, enchanted orchard hidden behind the castle, said to bloom only for those with a true heart.

Across the river in Velmor, Prince Thorne was the kingdom’s pride. Strong, courageous, and thoughtful, he was a knight before he was a prince. Unlike his royal peers, Thorne didn’t care for court balls or royal banquets. He often disguised himself as a commoner to ride through his land, helping villagers and listening to their stories.

Though they had heard of each other, Aveline and Thorne had never met.

That changed one fateful spring day.

Elaria was hosting the annual Festival of Unity, and delegations from Velmor were invited. Thorne, reluctantly, accompanied his father, King Alden, though he’d much rather have been riding through the forests. Aveline, as the crown princess, was expected to help host the guests.

Their first meeting was anything but fairy tale-like.

As Thorne wandered away from the main garden, frustrated by endless handshakes and small talk, he stumbled into a smaller, closed-off gate. Curious, he pushed it open—and stepped into the Golden Garden.

The air shimmered with gold dust. Trees sparkled, and fruits glowed softly. It was like a dream.

But before he could take another step, a voice rang out, sharp and regal.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Thorne turned to find a girl in a silver gown standing by a tree of golden pears, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

“I didn’t know,” he replied honestly. “I thought it was just another part of the garden.”

Her brows arched. “You thought wrong.”

Thorne smiled. “And you are?”

“Aveline. Princess of Elaria. And you?”

Thorne bowed slightly, amused. “Thorne. Prince of Velmor. So, we’ve officially broken royal protocol.”

Aveline was surprised, but not impressed. “Then you should leave, Prince Thorne.”

But Thorne did not move. “This place is… magical. How can you keep it hidden?”

“Because some things are meant to be discovered, not displayed,” she said softly.

Thorne liked that. “Tell me about it.”

And so, he stayed. For the first time, Aveline didn’t push someone away. She told him about the legends—that the Golden Garden was planted by lovers separated by war, and only bloomed for those with a bond deeper than time.

Over the next few days, they met again—and again—in the garden.

They talked about dreams. She wanted to explore the world beyond the kingdom. He wished to build a life where he wasn’t judged by titles.

They laughed. They debated poetry. One evening, they danced beneath the glowing fruit trees while the stars watched silently.
