James Gunn Makes Excuses for Superman’s Failing Global Box Office

Following a decent opening weekend for James Gunn’s Superman, it would appear the director is making an excuse for the movie underperforming.

According to James Gunn Superman is not as well known as other characters and there is a lot of anti-American sentiment. Both of these excuses don’t hold water; Superman is one of the most well known comic book characters of all time, and other American movies like Captain America: Brave New World did better overseas than domestically. It’s likely that international audiences just don’t like James Gunn’s style as much as domestic audiences.
