20 – Five Theses on Reformation

Dr. Williams asks the question: “What would a new Reformation of the church actually look like?” and explains, “Well, the reader who has endured this far may justifiably hope that there has been a method to all this madness. I hope so too. We are now attempting to arrive at the bottom line: There needs to be a new Reformation of the church in its Evangelical form, flowing from a new Renaissance, and leading to a new Revival, a third Great Awakening. (We can hope that the third time’s the charm!) Central to those needs and the primary focus of this book is Reformation. To achieve the Reformation that the church needs today, we must rediscover our roots in the first one, but we must not be satisfied merely to do so. We must use the nourishment derived from those roots to bring forth the fruit of Reformation in our own generation. Only then can we hope to see real, deep, and lasting Revival.”
