The story revolves around two high school students, Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana, who are complete strangers but begin to intermittently swap bodies. Mitsuha, living in the rural town of Itomori, dreams of experiencing life in Tokyo, while Taki, residing in Tokyo, dreams of being a girl in a countryside village he's never visited. This bizarre phenomenon leads to them living each other's lives on certain days, communicating through notes left in phones and notebooks.
