In this installment of the Fresh Love Series, Pastor Rick dives into one of Scripture's most sobering yet hope-filled passages. Jesus, with unflinching honesty, reveals to His disciples the brutal reality of what awaits Him—betrayal to the Gentiles, mockery, insults, spitting, scourging, and crucifixion, the path for humanity's redemption. The disciples' inability to comprehend these words mirrors our own struggle to accept the hard things in life, yet Jesus calls us to lean in and trust even when understanding eludes us.

Immediately following this dark prophecy, we meet the desperate blind beggar whose persistent cries demonstrate the radical dependence we need to have on Jesus' mercy. Like this man, we are spiritually blind and utterly helpless without Christ's intervention. But his desperation wasn't weakness—it was wisdom. When we have nothing left and the darkness of life feels overwhelming, that is when we truly see that our only hope is Jesus.
