Why We Burn

“We burn [incense] to praise God. We glorify Him and we are grateful to Him for His abundant benefactions to us and to the entire world. Incense, like the candle, is also an offering… You must put your heart into it. Whether it is an expression of gratitude or a request. With each candle I say, "My God, with all my heart I ask You to do me a favor." And with the incense I say, "I thank You God with all my heart for all Your gifts. I thank You for forgiving my many sins and the ingratitude of all the people and my own abundant ingratitude." Cultivate your devoutness and your modesty as much as you can. This will help you receive the Grace of God.”
