Riding Bean 1989
Riding Bean is a 1989 anime original video animation (OVA) following the exploits of courier-for-hire Bean Bandit and his partner, gunwoman and ace investigator Rally Vincent.
The anime was produced by Studio AIC and directed by Yasuo Hasegawa, with Kenichi Sonoda serving as the writer.
It was originally released in Japan in 1989 and later distributed by AnimEigo, who released the OVA on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, and Blu-ray.
In 2024, AnimEigo announced a new Blu-ray release of the OVA, which was made available on September 10, 2024, on home video and streaming platforms.
The OVA is set in Chicago and follows Bean Bandit and Rally Vincent as they are framed for the kidnapping of a millionaire's daughter, while also trying to outrun the police.
The story is inspired by the British TV drama The Professionals and features a custom bulletproof car known as the "Roadbuster".
The OVA was later followed by a manga adaptation, which was included in the final volume of the Revised Edition of the Gunsmith Cats manga.
