Columbia University has disciplined over 70 students for participating in pro-Palestinian protests, including a May demonstration at Butler Library and another during last year’s alumni weekend.

Sanctions include multi-year suspensions, expulsions, and degree revocations.

A student group, Columbia University Apartheid Divest, said students were required to apologize to return or face expulsion.

The crackdown follows pressure from the Trump administration, which cut federal funding and demanded stricter campus policies, NBC News has reported.

The protests, sparked by the war in Gaza, led to the arrest of at least 80 people and injuries to security staff, making Columbia a national focal point for campus activism.
