The Wan Brothers (Wan Laiming, Wan Guchan, Wan Chaochen, and Wan Dihuan) are considered the pioneers of Chinese animation. They produced the country's first animated advertisement in 1922 and went on to create China's first animated film, Uproar in the Studio in 1926. They also directed Princess Iron Fan, China's first feature-length animation in 1941, during a period when Japanese anime was also beginning to emerge.
