Bryan Kohberger, the former PhD student who confessed to the 2022 stabbings of four University of Idaho students, has been sentenced to life in prison. During his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, Kohberger remained silent as his victims' families and loved ones spoke out against him. Kohberger pleaded guilty earlier this month to the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, and agreed to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole in exchange for the prosecution not pursuing the death penalty. In a packed courtroom, Kohberger, who showed little emotion, faced the families of his victims as they delivered powerful victim impact statements. Mogen's grandmother, Kim Cheeley, expressed her heartache for all the victims and their families, while surviving roommates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke described how the killings have left them emotionally scarred. Funke, in particular, revealed the deep psychological toll the murders have had on her, saying she has not slept through the night since the killings.
