On July 22, 2025, around 2 a.m., a stolen car crashed into Berean Baptist Church at 517 Glensford Drive in Fayetteville, North Carolina, causing significant damage to the front entrance. Security footage captured the vehicle speeding through the church’s parking lot, plowing through bushes, and slamming into the building, leaving the car halfway inside the entrance.

Fayetteville Police identified the driver as 18-year-old Demear Denning, who was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, felony flee to elude, careless and reckless driving, and other offenses. The car, reported stolen, had a broken passenger-side window, and a tag check confirmed its status. Officers spotted two masked men inside the vehicle before it sped off, leading to the crash. Denning and an unidentified passenger fled on foot, but Denning was apprehended and is being held at Cumberland County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond. Police are still searching for the second suspect.
