In the Ozark hills of Arkansas, Eric Orwoll leads “Return to the Land” (RTTL), a “whites only” community spanning 160 acres. This intentional settlement, complete with wells, a community center, and a school, is the epicenter of a growing movement that bans Jews, Blacks and other non-white groups. RTTL’s founders sat it’s a “private club” to dodge civil rights laws. Similar RTTL communities sprouting across the Midwest to states like Missouri. Online, RTTL’s Telegram chats are littered with Nazi references like “1488,” a nod to white supremacist slogans. Orwoll, unapologetic and charismatic, calls his whites-only enclave a “fortress for the white race,” claiming it’s legal and scalable, with three more settlements in the works. Is this a dangerous ideology or a bold social experiment? Will we see more of this kind of ethnic splittism in Trump’s divided America?
