Micah was a prophet from Moresheth (a small town in Judah), active during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah (roughly 8th century BCE). This period was marked by political instability, social injustice, and idolatry. The northern kingdom of Israel (often called Samaria after its capital) and the southern kingdom of Judah (centered around Jerusalem) were both experiencing moral decline, which led to divine judgment.
