Excite Truck S-Rank Playthrough - Tutorials

This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through Excite Truck for the Wii. This footage was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U). I'm obtaining S ranks on each course and cup in the game.

My friend Drew gave me this game as a gift back on Christmas of 2006. I didn't really pay attention to the game before it was released (which is odd, in hindsight, since I love off road racing), but once I played it, I was instantly blown away.

Excite Truck is amazing. At a time when other racing games were simply focusing on "better graphics, more realism," along came this wild, arcade-like racing game that threw those typical features out the window and instead focused on insane levels of speed and an intuitive new control scheme. I was instantly hooked.

Drew and I played Excite Truck a bit, but I spent much more time racing against my uncle, who always loved racing games (dating back to Rad Racer on the NES). We would frequently alternate between this game and Wii Sports back when he still lived near me. It was wonderful.

Excite Truck isn't perfect though. You actually have to play through a tutorial to unlock the game (which I'm showing here). I find that to be quite annoying. Also, the multiplayer is lackluster since you can't race with more than two people, and you can't race with AI trucks either (unlike, say, Mario Kart). Lastly, the game isn't focused on who finishes first so much as who gets the most stars in each race. My uncle always disliked the game's focus on stars, and I tend to agree with him. But as far as the racing goes, the game is excellent.

In this video I completed all four Tutorial categories (Basics 1 and 2 and Stunts 1 and 2). The first tutorial is required to unlock the main portion of the game.
