How Corporate America Operates

Suburban sprawl is still real.

When I moved to my small Iowa town, it had 8,000 residents.

That was a little over 10 years ago, and now there are over 20,000 people.

With the population explosion, comes corporations.

We used to have zero chains; all our restaurants were independently/family owned.

Now, I can stand on one 4-way corner and see a Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Little Caesars, and one independent pizza place.

(Not to mention the big fast food chains that showed up.)

It’s gross.

The next closest versions of these entities are all 5 minutes away, but apparently that’s too far for your average lazy American to travel.
