Jameson Whiskey's Hunting Legacy

Jameson Whiskey was founded by John Jameson in 1780. His grandson, John Jameson III, assumed the helm in 1851, and was also an avid hunter. Together with his brother James they hunted the world, and this handsome Rigby double was delivered to him in May 1882, just two months prior to one of the pair's nearly annual hunts in the Rocky Mountains. It almost certainly was put to work as the pair traversed the Montana wilderness.

The brothers were such accomplished hunters, they hunted and befriended famous professional hunter and author Frederick Courtney Selous, as documented in Selous' writings. John and Selous famously took a lengthy expedition to Africa's interior in 1887 for specimen collection.

The Rigby back action underlever, chambered in .450/400, with quick adjust rear sights and a unique flip-up tang peep sight, would have been an apt choice for game on either continent.
