Nearly 50 people, including children, are feared dead after an Antonov An-24 passenger plane crashed near Tynda in Russia’s Amur region.

The Soviet-era aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, vanished from radar during a regional flight and was later found wrecked and on fire on a remote mountainside.

No survivors were seen, and preliminary reports indicate all 49 people on board perished.

The plane crashed during a second landing attempt, CNN has reported.

Investigations are underway, and Russia has declared three days of mourning.
