Gary Numan Resurrection (2022, Documentary)

A feature-length documentary charting the life of synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan and his emotional return performance to Wembley Arena some 40 years after his final concert at the venue for the comeback of a lifetime.

Beautifully shot on vintage lenses, this film chronicles the moment in 1981 when Gary shocked his fans by announcing his retirement, stalling a meteoric rise to global fame which had included two #1 hit singles and three #1 albums in the UK – all at the tender age of just twenty-one years of age.

With unprecedented access to Gary, his family and friends, this film tells the moving story of a young man struggling to cope with the pressure cooker of fame and unable to believe in his own immense talent.

With the bedrock support and help from wife Gemma, Gary found strategies to regain confidence, focus the ‘superpower’ of undiagnosed Asperger’s and return, finally, to Wembley – now a deeply respected original artist and a stronger, happier fulfilled person. 

We glimpse into the writing and recording of Gary’s work throughout the decades and what motivates and inspires him today to create artistic works that continue to resonate with the same relevance as they did back in 1979.
