Alasdair's idea about a 50/50 Gold/Stablecoin product is a nice one, but it's also a concept well understood in the Etheruem space and it suffers from a problem known as Impermanent Loss. If you hold a 50/50 pair of an appreciating asset (Gold) and a "stable" asset (Treasuries) the fund will be either forced to sell Gold or buy Dollars to maintain the 50/50 ratio - either way the resulting net value of the position pales in comparison to just holding the appreciating asset. Granted, for Joe Public it's better than just holding cash in the bank, but for people who actually want to protect their savings it actually represents a significant potential loss against holding real money, physical Gold & Silver.
