5 times- important detail- things are engineered to fail at 5 times their rated strength. This is a safety factor. When rigging for cranes and stuff, the rigging equipment should actually fail at 5 times its rated strength. The same is true for buildings, elevators, etc.

We are not supposed to lift with rigging equipment beyond its rated capacity. It does happen, if folks know about the factor of 5 safety factor, but we are not supposed to do that. It’s a safety factor for a reason- to be safe!

I’ve heard several different stories from workers who were there when this happened. It was during a concrete pour- most likely story to me is that there was just a miscommunication. Richard mentioned the demolition of the Wilton Paes de Almeida...but it was a reinforced concrete frame with aluminum framed curtain wall exterior..Ive seen the drawings and no structurally significant steel was used other than the steel rebar deep inside the concrete and mostly behind marble to boot..so just like the towers it was the the concrete that disintegrated..the steel did not fail or contribute to failure

Thanks for the clarification! I didn’t want to interrupt the conversation, but yeah, I had questions. All concrete is “reinforced” with rebar- does not count as “structural steel”.

This link is for a pretty good doc covering the moon landing hoax. I was pretty recently asked to provide evidence that the landing was faked. I responded that there are telescopes that can allow us to see objects the size of a pack of smokes or even a quarter on the surface of the moon.
