Michael Pillsbury: I don’t think so. I think what the Chinese want to do is maintain control of the algorithm and take a share of the profits. They really want a deal that won’t stand up to scrutiny, so they can claim they’ve divested control of TikTok. If this TikTok deal doesn’t come with verification and a complete transfer of intellectual property, there won’t be a deal. If Communist China doesn’t reciprocate with equivalent concessions, President Trump will get angry, and the whole world will watch US-China relations head toward collapse.
