Empty Socks (1927) is one of the earliest known Walt Disney-directed cartoons starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit — a mischievous, rubber-limbed character who paved the way for Mickey Mouse.

Long considered a lost film, Empty Socks was rediscovered in Norway in 2014. In this Christmas-themed short, Oswald tries to bring joy to an orphanage, only to leave chaos in his wake (including a classic cartoon-style fire!).
