Bill Federer explains how throughout history, it is very rare that a a country is ever ruled without a dictator or a king, and how that the Law of Moses in the old testament was unlike every kingdom because everyone was equal to the law seeing as usually if you are on good terms with the king you can get preferential treatment.

However when everyone is equal to God and that God sees everything you can do, then following the law takes a whole lot other meaning, since even if you get away with doing something wicked, God knows you did it.

So when we remove God from people and this life is all there is and if you can do something evil and not get punished for it, the whole system of law breeds corruption and self interest.
