In the video we see that the resin level is actually about 22". So it has lost some media. I have seen media fail in 1-3 years time (lots of chlorine in that water). Or iron (Fe) clear water. More realistically 5-10 years 10-15 years. 10 give or take is a good average. I have also come across resin 20+ years old. I do not care for solid colored tanks, yes the freeboard can be checked but it is a more involved process to do. Also we can see if there is any growth in the tank, which indicates lack of proper maintenance (not sanitizing the system during checkups). We can see the media bed expanding and this is why backwashing tanks are not filled to the top. This growth can be managed but to knock it down to the greatest proportion I will have to use elbow grease to wipe it out when the rebed comes due. Proper maintenance is good. Keeps operating costs down, water use down, peace of mind lower repair bills when that time comes and verifies the equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
