In this video I am finishing the service call. The annual RO filter change, checkup on the softener. Replaced some worn o-rings on the RO to avoid future issues (leaks). Sanitized the RO system (the housings, manifolds, supply/transition tubing, storage tank and faucet). Make sure nothing is leaking before leaving. Demonstrating that the kitchen cold water supply is a hard loop (this is a good indicator that the hose bibs should also be hard). It is good to verify every hose bib is either soft or hard. I have been to homes where one is soft, one is hard or homes with more than two bibs. The customer was given bad info by a former company representative (salesman, "technician" or the service manager) only tested one bib, told the customer that all are soft. But due diligence can confirm quite the contrary. When adding soft water to soft water the chemical reagent colorings will remain constant. When adding hard water to softwater the chemical reagents will react accordingly and change. Proving the presence of hardness. The most common hardwater mineral is CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonite) and this is what the chemicals are reading/measuring. There are other tests available to measure other hardwater chemicals or even a lab procedure may be required. But most hardness test kits are specifically ONLY measuring CaCO3.
