Terminator 2 video game commercial 1993
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a 1993 action game developed by Bits Studios for two 16-bit game consoles: the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
It was published by Acclaim Entertainment subsidiary companies: Flying Edge for the Genesis, and LJN for the SNES.
The game is based on the 1991 film of the same name, and features side-scrolling and driving levels.
It received generally negative reviews.
The player takes control of a T-800 Terminator, and the levels are based on eight locations from the film, including a truck stop, John Connor's house, a shopping mall, a mental hospital, a weapons cache, the house of Miles Dyson, and Cyberdyne Systems.
The final level is a battle between the T-800 and the T-1000 in a steel mill.
The game also includes a mix of side-scrolling levels and driving levels, the latter viewed from an overhead perspective.
In addition to the 16-bit versions, there was also an 8-bit version of the game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and Sega's Game Gear and Master System.
The NES version was developed by Software Creations and published by LJN in February 1992.
The Sega versions were published in late 1993, by Flying Edge.
The 8-bit version is a side-scrolling action game with a T-800 Terminator as the player character.
The NES version includes five levels based on the film, including a motorcycle level which is omitted from the Sega versions.
There was also a computer game version of Terminator 2 released for several platforms, including the ZX Spectrum, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, and DOS.
The computer game version is an action game with side-scrolling and top-down perspective levels.
In addition to these versions, there was also an arcade version of the game released in 1991.
The arcade version is a shooter game produced by Midway Manufacturing Company for arcades and released in October 1991.
There was also a Game Boy version of the game released in 1991.
The Game Boy version is an action-adventure game developed by Bits Studios for the Game Boy. It was published by LJN in November 1991, and includes six levels.
There was also a pinball game designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Williams Electronics in 1991.
There was also a chess game developed by IntraCorp and published by Capstone Software for MS-DOS in 1993.
The chess game features characters from Terminator 2: Judgment Day acting as chess pieces.
There was also a 2D side-scrolling platform shooter version of the game released for the NES in 1991.
The game closely follows the movie's storyline: the T-800 Terminator is sent back in time to protect young John Connor from the nearly indestructible T-1000.
The game takes about 27-30 minutes to complete, making it a great candidate for speedruns.
There was also a version of the game released for the Sega Genesis and Super NES in 1993.
The game includes a mix of side-scrolling levels and driving levels, the latter viewed from an overhead perspective.
