Jesus, The Good Shepard

The analogy of Jesus being the Good Shepard and we his flock is one that is used all throughout the Bible. For years I read these passages not truly understanding what they were trying to tell me which makes since, since a Shepard isn’t exactly a profession that we are familiar with anymore.
