Tampa, FL - Newly released bodycam footage shows the moments that led up to a Tampa police officer being shot near Busch Gardens.

In the video, the 21-year-old Jaylin Greene can be seen approaching Officer Jordan Laupert through the fence at the Tampa Police Department building on North 30th Street at E Annie Street. Part of the audio reveals Laupert told the man the address of TPD's headquarters before parting ways.

"Thank you," Green can be heard saying before Officer Laupert walks away.

As Laupert began walking back into the building, he can be seen visibly stumbling after the apparent gunshot to his leg.

Laupert proceeds to run to the entrance of the building after being shot, while another police officer approaches him.

"Get me to a hospital," Laupert said to the officer.

Tampa police say Laupert was shot by Greene just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

During the investigation, Police Chief Lee Bercaw said officers found Greene dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

Officer Laupert was rushed to the hospital. In an update, Tampa police confirmed that he made it through a successful surgery and is stable.

Officer Laupert is a school resource officer at Hillsborough High School. He was temporarily on patrol duty at the TPD building, as school resource officers are given temporary assignments while school is out over the summer.

“Officers out here are protecting the community, and in this situation, this officer did a great job and all of my officers did a great job," the police chief said.

Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez was also at the scene "to provide support for the Tampa Police Department."

"We're so grateful that our officer is ok," Lopez said.
