The time for saber rattling was over. By January of 1984, Vincent K McMahon had already sent his warning shots across the bow of the NWA throughout the previous year. He had already purchased Capitol Sports from his father and his father's business partners. He had taken over the Los Angeles office from the Lebell and Eaton family. He started running shows in Ohio, which had been most recently promoted by the Georgia territory. He had pulled a MAJOR coup by taking the spot of Southwest Wrestling on the USA cale network. Most importantly, he had obtained the services of a television wrestling wizard, Jim Barnett. Now, he and the WWF had done the unthinkable. They had invaded the spiritual homeland of the NWA, Sam Muchnick's beloved St Louis. Whether they knew it yet or not, the cartel of NWA & AWA promoters were now in a wrestling war. A war that none of them was prepared for, nor were they really interested in fighting. Besides, these guys were confident that McMahon was overextending himself and would soon run out of money, ideas, and time. They saw VKM as an entitled trust fund kid that would surely fail when competing against their 'syndicate.' In reality, McMahon had deep enough pockets to play the long game. Who will prevail in this, the realest fight that ever took place in the smoke & mirrors world of professional wrestling?
