Understanding EMG Pickups

The metal growl from emg doesn't come from the volume of the pickup. In fact a lot of passive pickups are much louder than emg 81. What gives you the growl is the clarity, faltness in frequencies and balanced in the output. Hearing the root and 5th equally in volume is what gives you the growl.
