How The 3 Components Are Grown & Cultured:
Tetanus: C. Tetani Toxoid is grown in heated & putrefied Beef Heart Infusion, known as BHI. The tetanus toxin is treated with formaldehyde to inactivate its pathogenic properties. But some toxoid preparations can still contain undesirable contaminants, which puts you at risk for contracting Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy also known as Mad Cow Disease.

Diphtheria: C. Diphtheriae grown on fetal bovine serum then treated with Formaldehyde.

Pertussis: B. Pertussis bacteria grown on dairy casein fermentation broth then treated with glutaraldehyde & formaldehyde.
