Bees Buzz is a 1929 black-and-white animated short from Paul Terry’s Aesop’s Fables series. The film features an energetic colony of bees whose peaceful hive life is upended when an outsider stirs trouble, leading to fast-paced chases, chaotic stings, and an insect-led uprising full of buzzing rhythm and slapstick gags.

Synopsis
The story begins on a sunny morning in a clover-filled meadow, where the bees of Honeycomb Hollow wake to begin their daily routine. We see them march in lines, work assembly-style in the hive, and even use flowers as telephones.

Their harmony is broken when a mischievous bear cub (or sometimes portrayed as a dog in disguise) sneaks in with a sweet tooth for honey. Disguised in a fake mustache, he tiptoes past guards and starts stealing jars.

Soon, the bees detect the intruder. What follows is a frantic chase through fields, haystacks, and even inside a phonograph. One bee straps on a thimble helmet like a knight, while others form an aerial squadron to bombard the thief with stingers.

In classic fashion, the thief is launched into the distance—covered in honey and bandages. The bees celebrate with a dance and resume work, as the final card delivers the cartoon’s punchline moral:
“Steal honey—and you’ll get the buzz!”
