China took German Foreign Minister A Baerbock to Yonghe palace (雍和宫) where there is a statue of Lama Buddha. What does the statue tell the West?
It tells the West that ...
1, Yonghe palace was built in 1774 in Beijing, China. -> Tibetan culture ie Lama Buddhism is preserved in Chinese capital. -> a proof that China is a multi-cultural country at least since 1774. -> China does not suppress Tibetan culture, as propagated by the West.
2, The sign at the doorstep of palace was written in 4 languages: Manchu (满), Han (汉), Mongolia (蒙), Tibet (藏) -> China preserves languages of (major) ethnic minority -> China does not suppress ethnicity eg Uyghurs or Tibetans. Not as propagated by the West re Xinjiang genocide.
FYI on a Chinese banknote, there are 5 languages: Han (汉), Mongolia (蒙), Tibet (藏), Uyghur (维) & Zhuang (壮)
It is all US-led propaganda. Ethnicity & religion are convenient tools for the West to stir people's emotion re human rights. It is well known that Human Right Watch is directly or indirectly funded by US government. Since WW2, 82% of riots/wars in the world were incited by USA+allies.
The truth is that:
In 2009, there was riot/terrorism in Xinjiang. In 1959, there was riot/coup in Tibet.
China was suppressing riot/terrorism/coup. Not ethnicity or religion. Sort out truth & gossip please.
Why show Baerbock Chinese history? Because many radically anti-China people like Baerbock are ignorant. Never visit China before. Know nothing about the real China. They hear about China from the US-led media who is an international gossiper to break up the friendship between countries.

Magnificent series Prof. Ang. Your exposition in ep. 2 & 3 reminded me of my time working in a very advanced software company in Germany years ago.
The structure of this company was not really "democratic", in the sense of the bottom of the company electing the directors, nor setting the direction / products of the company (which, again is quite successful).
The direction is set in the Board of Directors (sort of Politburo?), which, in the case of Germany had worker’s representatives elected by the workers / employees. Anyone could be a representative. Not sure to what level they set the direction of the company in technological matters... but surely had influence in "social / employee" matters.
At lower levels, the employees will have very much freedom on HOW to implement a new "product" (tech direction), but not in the WHAT, which came from higher levels of management. It can be said that the higher level of management was kind of the best of the meritocracy system (based in "performance reviews", similar to the "cadre’s reviews" you mentioned, creativity, education).
All this to say that maybe a "correlation" between political freedoms and economic freedoms is open for debate. Specially in the mediocre "liberal democratic" political system in #theWest. Voting every 5-6 years for some party / persons that have the benefit of Patrons with a lot of money is not exactly choosing the "best" bastard. In the #USA it is quite hard, if not impossible, to elect a President that does not belong to the Two Main Corporate parties. The system is well designed to avoid this from happening.
In the case of #Europe, the main economic decisions are set in #Brussels, not by the Peoples of Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, etc...
No doubt, the #Chinese Model -- Directed Improvisation -- is far more efficient, specially based on REAL meritocracy (at least as an ideal).
Some thoughts. Marvellous discussion. I was looking for the book written by Prof. Ang... found it!
