1068 1 Tim.3.1-7 Qualifications of an Overseer-Elder

Paul outlines the qualifications for overseers in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 to protect the church from moral failure and doctrinal compromise. Overseers must be above reproach in character, faithful in marriage, self-controlled, gentle, hospitable, able to teach, and manage their households well. Their reputation inside and outside the church must be blameless. These qualifications are not about status but godliness, as overseers model and guard the gospel. Satan targets leaders, so faithful, tested men are vital for the church’s integrity and witness.
