Buy the Truth

Truth is important. In Proverb 23, Solomon is stating to treat truth like a valuable commodity – once you have it, you must guard and keep it close to you. On the radio, I will hear advertisements advising me to buy gold. It is a good investment that will only rise in value to longer I keep it. Insurance. I need plenty of life insurance, why? So my loved ones will be well taken care of when I pass away. Material goods, I need lots of material goods: cars, houses, tvs, money. Honestly, all those things: gold, life insurance, cars, boats, houses, et cetera, their true value is only known when they are sold.
Truth. Truth has a greater value than anything (after salvation), and its value can be known and understood right now, it does not need to be sold. Truth – God’s truth – is valuable and must never be neglected or ignored. Solomon is telling you to buy the truth and to never sell it.
