Kaiju No. 8, also known in English as Monster #8, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. The story follows Kafka Hibino, a man who dreams of joining the Defense Force to battle giant monsters known as Kaiju but ends up working in a Kaiju cleanup crew. His life changes dramatically when he gains the ability to transform into a Kaiju himself, earning the designation "Kaiju No. 8." The series blends intense action, dark humor, and emotional storytelling, exploring themes of perseverance, identity, and heroism. It was serialized on Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ online platform from July 2020 to July 2025, with its chapters collected in 15 tankōbon volumes as of March 2025.
