The Dead Names: Kai Khan

A woman is medicalized in middle school around the time mental illness develops. Then at 18, after a failed first attempt, she takes her life. Her mother, who uses her daughter's death to advocate for legislation, sometimes blames transphobes but never takes accountability for being married to a rageaholic and forcing Kai to be "miserable" and "walk on eggshells" for years.
