This is a series placing modern conspiracy theories in chronological order. The Bolshevik Revolution, also known as the October Revolution, was a seizure of state power in Russia by the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, an event that marked the beginning of the Soviet era. Led by Vladimir Lenin, the Bolsheviks overthrew the Provisional Government in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg) in November 1917 (October in the old Julian calendar). This event is considered a pivotal moment in the Russian Revolution of 1917, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Soviet Union.
